How warm are log cabins ?
The suitability of use of a log cabin depends upon it’s structure and type – a log cabin house, for instance has to be much thicker than a summer house. But when deciding upon the design and format of a log cabin, you also need to consider how warm you want to be in it.
Now, this may seem like a bit of an obvious point, but it is important and is one we have to consider when advising on a structure. People often compromise on the thickness of a structure, but actually want to be relatively warm when using it. For instance,
log cabins
are very versatile, and so you might want to consider future possible uses, even if they are not what you are buying one for now. If you are purchasing a cabin as a Summer house, it needn’t necessarily be too well insulated, unless you plan on storing items in it. But if, in a few years, you suddenly want to use it as an office, or even somewhere for occasional guests or sleep-overs, the thickness of the structure and insulation are important to consider.
If you are in an office, or somewhere to stay in occasionally the questions you need to ask are:
Is it warm enough for Winter? Does the cabin have double glazing, insulated roof and walls – is the floor insulated?
Is it too hot in Summer? Obviously a thicker
log cabins
structure, with insulation is going to be less prone to being like sitting in a radiator when in full sunshine. Careful insulation and plenty of windows – at least on two walls, will help to keep it cooler.
Is it secure? If using as an office or somewhere with electrical items in, such as TVs and radios, does your log cabin have good windows (preferably double glazed, laminated glass) in good frames, and how do they secure. Is the door well secured?
If you do plan on using a cabin as an office or a store for any goods or possessions, you will need to have a source of heat, year round. If you don’t there will be times when the cabin becomes damp. This is particularly prevalent as a problem in changeable or wet conditions. The latter is obvious, as dampness in the air will move into the cabin, however, changeable conditions, with sudden cold snaps, or drops in temperature outside, can produce condensation on the inside of your cabin (or any structure). If you get condensation and don’t have a source of heat to evaporate it again, this can result in mold build up, ruining your stored possessions.
Finally, a couple of points regarding living in cabins. If you plan on living in one, you will need the get permission to build it. Secondly, although a log cabin is entirely suitable as a living structure, you will need to take advice on thickness, insulation and suitability of building materials. All structures, including log cabins, need to conform to building regulations when you wish to live in them.

Home Plan Doctor: The Essential Companion for Anyone Buying a Home Design Plan $17.78 Every new house begins with a dream–and a home plan. For the buyer, it’s often a frightening proposition to commit a lifetime of savings to a two-dimensional drawing that’s difficult to interpret and challenging to visualize. Will the space meet the particular needs of the people who will call it home? Is the plan well designed? Will it, indeed, be the realization of the buyer’s dream, or does it hold the makings of a nightmare? Larry W. Garnett, a home plan designer for 30 years, knows the dilemma of the buyer. In "Home Plan Doctor" he makes basic design principles accessible to buyers, explaining in clear language how to navigate every stage of the process, from selecting a plan to evaluating the suitability of the design room-by-room, and, finally, requesting needed modifications. Using sample floor plans and watercolor illustrations from readily available plans, this book is a practical guide for everything from where to place the kitchen island for optimal traffic flow to how to evaluate the effect of the roof pitch on the overall proportions of the house. Garnett doesn’t overlook the basics either, with sections on what to look for in a building site, how to read a basic floor plan, and what to expect when you order the "blueprints," or construction documents. Whether purchasing a stock plan or working with an architect, every buyer of a design for a new home or addition will find this indispensable handbook worth the purchase price many times over — especially when that dream home is fully realized. |

Community Planning: An Introduction to the Comprehensive Plan $59.52 This book introduces community planning as practiced in the United States, focusing on the comprehensive plan. Sometimes known by other names–especially master plan or general plan–the type of plan described here is the predominant form of general governmental planning in the U.S. Although many government agencies make plans for their own programs or facilities, the comprehensive plan is the only planning document that considers multiple programs and that accounts for activities on all land located within the planning area, including both public and private property. Written by a former president of the American Planning Association, "Community Planning" is thorough, specific, and timely. It addresses such important contemporary issues as sustainability, walkable communities, the role of urban design in public safety, changes in housing needs for a changing population, and multi-modal transportation planning. Unlike competing books, it addresses all of these topics in the context of the local comprehensive plan. There is a broad audience for this book: planning students, practicing planners, and individual citizens who want to better understand local planning and land use controls. Boxes at the end of each chapter explain how professional planners and individual citizens, respectively, typically engage the issues addressed in the chapter. For all readers, "Community Planning" provides a pragmatic view of the comprehensive plan, clearly explained by a respected authority. |

New Garden Design: Inspiring Private Paradises $12.48 From vegetable and succulent gardens to sculpture and rose gardens to mountain and waterfront gardens, New Garden Design covers a range of interpretations incorporating walls, fountains, pavilions, canals, pools, terraces and groves in unexpected ways. The resulting new garden is a pleasure garden vested with spiritual, symbolic and ecological intent. A modernist interpretation of Roman stone furniture and freestanding walls punctuate the space behind a 1970s ranch house. A home designed by Bernard Maybeck is accented with a freehand composition of urns, cement pipes and rusty objects, as well as over a thousand species of plants. A grove of olive trees underplanted with rosemary and lavender fields gives personality to two acres surrounding a house designed by modernist Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. Garden ideas spring from many sources, and new gardens today, abstract in design and with seemingly no connection to the formalities of a paradise garden or its Persian, Indian or Greco-Roman and Mediterranean antecedents, echoes them all. New Garden Design aims to show how many ancient lessons haven’t been forgotten. These gardens are fertile ground for creation, perception and meditation. Zahid Sardar is the design editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and has reported on garden, interior and architecture design for twenty years in the Bay Area. His work appears in Chronicle Magazine and other national and international design publications such as House & Garden, Western Interiors and Design, Elle Decor, Architecture, Metropolis, Elle Decoration and Schoner Wohnen magazines. He has designed, authored or contributed to several books on design and culture, including San Francisco Modern, Textile Arts of India, and Three Stories of the Raj. Sardar has also lectured at the Landscape Architecture, UC Berkeley Extension program and at garden seminars at the Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco, as well as for The Garden Conservancy in Northern California. A Walk in the Garden $14.99 “Gardens aren’t always what we think they are; often there is more to them than meets the eye. On the outside gardens are beautiful to look at and on a warm summer night we can smell the sweet fragrance of the flowers floating on a gentle breeze. When we look closer we see the Gardner with his thick gloves on. He wears gloves because some flowers have thorns. When we look closer we see the plants have been pruned and the soil has been turned. When we look deeper into the garden we see the tools the Gardner uses to snip, prune and shape the garden. We see how the Gardner has a plan for each plant that isn’t seen from a distance. When we get into the very depths of the garden we see the love and tenderness of the Gardner as He tends to the garden of our hearts. A Walk in the Garden puts us in the hands of the Gardner Gifted as a teacher Nancy A. Williams has served the Body of Christ in various ways since 1990. She is an ordained minister in her local church teaching and preaching with an emphasis on drawing the believer to a closer relationship with God. Her love of the Word of God and her tenacious style of digging out the treasures of God’s Word, brings a depth and fullness to our understanding that draws the reader closer to God.” |

It’s what lures you in through the gate, keeps you moving through the landscape, and fills you with excitement along the way. The sense of mystery is what turns a mere display of plants, paths, and ornaments into an adventure." –James van Sweden Guided by world-renowned landscape architect James van Sweden and horticulture expert Tom Christopher, any gardener can learn the secrets of the gardener’s art and absorb the essence of inspired garden design. In their gifted hands, creating your own perfect garden, with its own alluring mysteries, turns out to be not only easy but a delight. Whether it’s a ten-foot-square city terrace or a ten-acre expanse, the same principles apply: the intelligent use of positive and negative space, of form and scale, of light and shadow, of rough and smooth textures. Do you want a garden you can immerse yourself in? A garden you can smell and listen to as well as observe? An exuberant garden or a contemplative garden? In this elegantly written and visually stunning book, van Sweden reveals the secrets of famous gardens around the world and encourages you to find inspiration in the arts–in painting (from America’s classic regional artists to the abstract expressionists), music (from classical to jazz), sculpture, even dance. "What’s my message?" van Sweden asks in conclusion. The wise answer: "Don’t squander the potential for surprise and wonder."" "This beautiful book guarantees everyone who reads it a priceless store of gardening wisdom. |

Grounds for Review: The Garden Festival in Urban Planning and Design $29.48 In recent decades, suburban growth and the decline of industry have left cities throughout Europe and America searching for creative and effective ways to revitalize blighted areas and reclaim underused land. In "Grounds for Review," Andrew Theokas examines one particularly exciting tool for reinvigorating urban areas: the garden festival. These festivals, which began in post-war Europe, have been popular throughout the Continent for decades but are just beginning to gain currency in the United States. A garden festival temporarily transforms a previously derelict area, such as an abandoned factory lot, into a festival of horticulture, combining luxurious landscapes with exhibits and carnival rides. Most garden festivals last about six months–during which time they draw millions of visitors–but the success of the fair itself is only the initial step in a detailed plan for urban improvement. At the conclusion of the festival, funds from its operation are used to transform the grounds once again, this time with an eye toward the long-term use of the land. The enduring result of a successful garden festival is thus the transformation of derelict land into a community asset, such as a new urban park or an affordable housing project. Theokas considers here fifteen garden festivals–in Europe, England, and the United States–in all their dimensions. He examines the role they play in stimulating urban redevelopment, their effects on the practice of landscape architecture, and the contentious debates over their financing, purposes, and future prospects. This highly illustrated volume will serve as a useful introduction to garden festivals for all those interested in urban planning, horticulture, and the future of cities. |

You won’t have to give up your favorite plants or settle for expanses of ugly bark nuggets. You just have to unlearn some bad old habits and pick up some good new ones. So, how do you go about making a "new" low-maintenance garden? First, design your garden with maintenance in mind — good-looking hardscape will both save weeding time and showcase your favorite plants. Second, simplify your garden routines — learn the most efficient planting and maintenance techniques and don’t get stressed if everything isn’t letter-perfect. Third, learn how to work with nature rather than against it. And finally, embrace home-grown fruits, herbs, and vegetables; well planted containers; and thoughtfully chosen plants. "The New Low-Maintenance Garden" doesn’t just "tell" you how to garden in a whole new way — it "shows" you, through profiles and beautiful photographs of real gardens that embody low-maintenance techniques. The pressures of life are not likely to ease up anytime soon, but the lessons of this timely book will help you replace guilt over undone garden chores with pleasure in your garden successes. |

In their gifted hands, creating your own perfect garden, with its own alluring mysteries, turns out to be not only easy but a delight. Change by Design: How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspires Innovation $24.57 The myth of innovation is that brilliant ideas leap fully formed from the minds of geniuses. In reality, most innovations are borne from rigor and discipline. Breakthrough ideas–whether for a new bicycle, an advertising campaign, a treatment plan for diabetes, or a program aimed at tackling the national obesity epidemic–emerge not by chance, but by studying and embracing the immediate challenges we encounter every day in our offices and homes, laboratories and hospitals, classrooms and conference rooms, and in all the spaces in between. We don’t simply realize solutions; we "design" them. In this book Tim Brown, CEO of the celebrated innovation and design firm IDEO, introduces us to "design thinking." Design is not just about creating elegant objects or beautifying the world around us. The best designers match necessity to utility, constraint to possibility, and need to demand. These design thinkers rely on rigorous observations of how we use spaces and the objects and services that occupy them; they discover patterns where others see complexity and confusion; they synthesize new ideas from seemingly disparate fragments; and they convert problems into opportunities. Design thinking is a method in which genius, in the end, is not required. Design thinking is valuable not just in so-called creative industries or for people tasked with designing products. Rather, it is often most powerful when applied to abstract, multifaceted problems: improving a guest experience at a hotel, encouraging bank customers to save more, or developing a compelling narrative for a public-service campaign. It has been used by organizations such as Nokia to rethink global gaming and by the Department of Energy to encourage conservation. Design thinking is now being applied to address a wide range of issues and concerns, from the delivery of clean drinking water in the developing world to improving the efficacy of airport security and microfinancing. This is not a book by designers for designers; this is a blueprint for creative leaders seeking to infuse design thinking–an approach for creative problem solving–into all facets of their organizations, products, or services to discover new alternatives for business and society as a whole. Written with imagination, humor, and vision, this vital and inspiring guide is essential reading for anyone confronting the challenges of today in order to create the opportunities of tomorrow. |

The Plan of Chicago $12 Arguably the most influential document in the history of urban planning, Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago , coauthored by Edward Bennett and produced in collaboration with the Commercial Club of Chicago, proposed many of the city’s most distinctive features, including its lakefront parks and roadways, the Magnificent Mile, and Navy Pier. Carl Smith’s fascinating history reveals the Plan ’s central role in shaping the ways people envision the cityscape and urban life itself.  Smith’s concise and accessible narrative begins with a survey of Chicago’s stunning rise from a tiny frontier settlement to the nation’s second-largest city. He then offers an illuminating exploration of the Plan ’s creation and reveals how it embodies the renowned architect’s belief that cities can and must be remade for the better. The Plan defined the City Beautiful movement and was the first comprehensive attempt to reimagine a major American city. Smith points out the ways the Plan continues to influence debates, even a century after its publication, about how to create a vibrant and habitable urban environment.  Richly illustrated and incisively written, his insightful book will be indispensable to our understanding of Chicago, Daniel Burnham, and the emergence of the modern city. |

The Wild Garden $28.15 William Robinson’s revolutionary book, "The Wild Garden," envisioned an authentically naturalistic approach to gardening that is more vital today than ever before. First published in 1870, The Wild Garden evolved through many editions and remained in print through the remainder of the author’s lifetime (1838–1935). In the book, Robinson issued a forceful challenge to the prevailing style of the day, which relied upon tender plants arranged in rigidly geometrical designs. In sharp contrast, Robinson advocated for the use of hardy, locally adapted native and exotic plants arranged according to local growing conditions. Robinson’s vision was inspired by his first-hand observations of natural habitats in Europe and North America, and he put his ideas into practice in his own garden at Gravetye Manor in West Sussex. "The Wild Garden" was ground-breaking and hugely influential in its day, and is stunningly relevant to twenty-first century gardeners and landscape stewards seeking to adopt sustainable design and management practices. In addition to the complete original text and illustrations from the fifth edition of 1895, this expanded edition includes new chapters and 125 color photographs by award-winning photographer and landscape consultant Rick Darke. His new material places wild gardening in modern context, underscoring Robinson’s importance in the evolution of ecological design and illustrating an inspiring diversity of contemporary wild gardens. The potent combination presented here makes this new edition of a timeless classic an essential resource for all who wish to know how we have arrived at our present understanding of gardens and what opportunities lie ahead. As will be immediately clear to anyone who leafs through this book, Robinson’s urgent message continues to resonate. |

Tomorrow’s Garden: Design and Inspiration for a New Age of Sustainable Gardening $13.98 With a keen eye for aesthetics matched by a strong concern for the environment, garden expert Stephen Orr has developed a sense of what a modern garden should be: small, visually pleasing, and responsible. In Tomorrow’s Garden, he presents gardens in 14 American cities that have been scaled back and simplified without sacrificing beauty or innovative design.  A devoted supporter of the organic gardening movement, Orr advises gardeners to think about their gardens as part of an interconnected whole with the surrounding environment—with an eye to water usage, local ecology, and preservation of resources. However, for those who are afraid that a sustainable garden means a lack of flora and fauna, Orr believes that a garden, first and foremost, should be a thing of beauty. He encourages flower lovers to plant flowers, and he showcases gardens filled with traditional and exotic plants that are designed with both visual appeal and the environment in mind.  With detailed case studies, stunning photographs, and an appendix of resources and information to help gardeners achieve their ecological best, Tomorrow’s Garden will teach you the true definition of sustainability and show you how to create beauty without excess in the 21st century and beyond.  |

Plan C $19.95 Concerns over climate change and energy depletion are increasing exponentially. Mainstream solutions still assume a panacea that will cure our climate ills without requiring any serious modification to our way of life. Plan C explores the risks inherent in trying to continue our energy-intensive lifestyle. Using dirtier fossil fuels (Plan A) or switching to renewable energy sources (Plan B) allows people to remain complacent in the face of potential global catastrophe. Dramatic lifestyle change is the only way to begin to create a sustainable, equitable world. The converging crises of Peak Oil, climate change, and increasing inequity are presented in a clear, concise manner, as are the twin solutions of community (where cooperation replaces competition) and curtailment (deliberately reducing consumption of consumer goods). Plan C shows how each person’s individual choices can dramatically reduce CO2 emissions. It offers specific strategies in the areas of food, transportation, and housing. One chapter analyzes the decimation of the Cuban economy when the USSR stopped oil exports in 1990 and provides an inspiring vision for a low-energy way of living. |

In "Japanese Garden Design," landscape architect Marc Peter Keane presents the history and development of the classical metaphors that underlie all Japanese gardens. Keane describes the influences of Confucian, Shinto and Buddhist principles that have linked poetry and philosophy to the tangible metaphor of the garden. Detailed explanations of basic design concepts identify and interpret the symbolism of various garden forms and demonstrate these principles in use today. |

The Welcoming Garden: Designing Your Own Front Garden $7.48 Renowned garden designer Gordon Hayward’s newest book focuses on one major principle: creating front-yard gardens that will inspire and invite, transforming neighborhoods and encouraging people to create compelling spaces in which to relax, visit with neighbors, and enjoy a natural space. A front garden should welcome, enliven, enrich, and engage. Traditional "foundation planting"–that cliche that means glomming a few evergreen shrubs against the front foundation of the house and then running lawn from it down to the sidewalk or street–is a thing of the past. Hayward offers a step-by-step approach that starts by helping people find their "Big Idea," then guides the homeowner through the process of making all the smaller decisions. He also introduces fundamental garden-design principles, illustrated throughout the book with beautiful photography and line drawings, allowing homeowners to effectively apply the ideas no matter where or what type of climate they live. Feast on these lush photos with an open mind, you’ll come away with an endless supply of ideas. Chapters include: How to Look at Garden Images The Driveway, Cars and the Front Garden The Path to the Front Door A Lot of Lawn, A Little Lawn? Gardens Between House and Sidewalk Fencing, Walls and Gates Sitting Areas in the Front Garden Gordon Hayward holds degrees from Wesleyan University and began gardening in the 1970s. In 1984, he turned to the work of garden design, lecturing, and writing full time. He consults throughout the Northeast for residential clients, their architects, and builders. He is the author of several books, including The Intimate Garden: Twenty Years and Four Seasons in Our Garden, Garden Paths: Inspiring Designs and Practical Projects, and Your House, Your Garden: A Foolproof Approach to Garden Design, as well as a variety of articles for Horticulture Magazine. Hayward is a certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. |

The Fertility Plan $18.17 Infertility medicine today is all about aggressive surgical, chemical and technological intervention. But making babies originally was – and is still best as – a natural process. In the UK it is estimated that approximately 1 in every 7 couples have difficulty conceiving and 1 in 80 babies is born as a result of IVF treatment. While 75% of people seeking help with their fertility try alternative treatment, few doctors are aware of how the disciplines of Western and Eastern fertility treatment can be used together to achieve the best results. This is a unique collaboration that combines the best of Dr David’s and Jill Blakeway’s expertise. In THE FERTILITY PLAN they show that half of women who use IVF could have got pregnant without it if the right knowledge and advice were available to them, and they share their proven 3-month plan that increases women’s chances of conceiving naturally. |

The Generosity Plan $11.99 Many of us have the desire to make a difference. But when it comes down to it, how many really know what steps to take and how to fit philanthropy into our lives. The Generosity Plan shows readers the unexpected benefits and joys of generosity in our daily lives. This smart, practical guide to philanthropy illuminates the power of giving by helping readers to discover what inspires them, clarify what he or she can afford to give, and direct that generosity toward a better world. Contributing time or money to causes far removed from the immediacy of our individual lives may feel overwhelming, especially in times of financial stress and uncertainty. Author Kathy LeMay breaks through these initial roadblocks to give easy and valuable tools to spur definite and rewarding action, demonstrating how our time, treasure, and talents can make a world of difference. By building and acting on a generosity plan, each one of us can create change simply by doing what we can, where we are, with what we have. |

The Master Plan $11.95 A groundbreaking history of the Nazi research institute whose work helped lead to the extermination of millions In 1935, Heinrich Himmler established a Nazi research institute called The Ahnenerbe, whose mission was to send teams of scholars around the world to search for proof of Ancient Aryan conquests. But history was not their most important focus. Rather, the Ahnenerbe was an essential part of Himmler’s master plan for the Final Solution. The findings of the institute were used to convince armies of SS men that they were entitled to slaughter Jews and other groups. And Himmler also hoped to use the research as a blueprint for the breeding of a new Europe in a racially purer mold. The Master Plan is a groundbreaking expos? of the work of German scientists and scholars who allowed their research to be warped to justify extermination, and who directly participated in the slaughter — many of whom resumed their academic positions at war’s end. It is based on Heather Pringle’s extensive original research, including previously ignored archival material and unpublished photographs, and interviews with living members of the institute and their survivors. A sweeping history told with the drama of fiction, The Master Plan is at once horrifying, transfixing, and monumentally important to our comprehension of how something as unimaginable as the Holocaust could have progressed from fantasy to reality. |

Her sensible approach and clear direction will guide you every step of the way. It worked for her: Drawing on her years of work as a goal management trainer, she wrote the thirteen steps as a guide for herself when she was looking for love, and she met and married her soul mate in under one year. It worked for the six couples whose stories are included here, and it will work for you. If you’re fed up with playing games that get you nowhere, The Marriage Plan is for you. For guidance from the first date to the wedding date, The Marriage Plan is the perfect match for anyone who’s looking for lasting love. From the Hardcover edition. |

Return to the Garden: Embracing God’s Design for Sexuality $16.99 “Kay Arthur writes from the perspective of one who has experienced God’s grace and voices heartfelt concern for a sex-saturated society that has forgotten how to blush. From the beginning of time, our sexuality and distinctiveness as women has been front and center with God. We are designer goods, designed by God, no less! And when it comes to our sexuality, He has much to say to us. This interactive Bible study is an honest, redemptive call to recognize and return to God’s standards for purity. Her straightforward lessons from Scripture focus on love, sex in marriage, purity, modesty, and examples of how men and women should relate to each other. These timely messages are for women, whether married or single, mother or daughter. (6 sessions)” |

In the Garden $11.98 It would probably be an exaggeration to say that Yusef Lateef is underrated; the veteran saxophonist has long commanded a loyal, enthusiastic following. But it might be safe to say that some historians in the jazz world don’t adequately explain just how much of an innovator he is. Lateef was one of the very first people to play modal post-bop — he certainly deserves as much credit as Miles Davis and John Coltrane in that area — and his world music-influenced experiments of the late ’50s were quite advanced for their time. Long after the ’50s, world music continued to fascinate Lateef — and it’s certainly a big part of what he does on In the Garden. Recorded live at the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA (a Los Angeles suburb) on March 1-2, 2003, In the Garden finds an 82-year-old Lateef leading a large ensemble that is mindful of African, Middle Eastern, and Asian music. Lateef not only plays the tenor sax on these performances — he’s also heard on a variety of flutes — and his sidemen play everything from flutes and clarinets to traditional string and percussion instruments from Africa and Asia. Those who are seriously into world music might recognize the sound of the Indian bansuri flute, or African udu drums, but even if you can’t pick out all the instruments, it is obvious that Lateef and his colleagues are thinking globally throughout this rewarding two-CD set. These performances tend to be abstract, sometimes drawing on free jazz. But those who are adventurous enough to go along for the ride will find a lot to enjoy about In the Garden. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi Performers: Miles Shrewsbery – Frame Drum, Shaker, Tabla, Udu; Paul Sherman – Baroque Oboe, Horn (English), Oboe; Ralph Jones – Hichiriki, Bamboo Trumpet, Ney, Flute (Alto), Flute; Ralph Jones Band – Bamboo Trumpet, Hichiriki, Ney, Flute (Alto), Flute; Adam Rudolph – Overtone Flute, Cajon, Djembe, Balafon, Talking Drum, Hand Drums, Conga, Vocals; Andres Renteria – Bowls, Cajon, Bata, Shaker; Bennie Maupin – Bugle, Shakuhachi, Rainstick, Bamboo Flute, Flute (Alto), Clarinet ( |

Gods Plan: Finding Yourself in His Grand Design $14.99 “If you’ve ever wondered if God has a plan for your life, then prepare to be amazed when you turn the pages of this book. God’s plan is exciting and timely and God’s Word is relevant today! If anyone followed God’s plan for her life, it was Dr. Henrietta Mears, whose one purpose–to know Christ and make Him known–inspired a generation of college kids to aspire to Christian leadership, including the legendary Billy Graham, Bill Bright and many others. In God’s Plan, the well-loved author of What the Bible is All About leads us to discover that God does have a plan, and His plan is eternal. His plan predates creation, and continues forever, without limits. The essence of God’s plan is love, pure unrequited love, by the Almighty God for people. This love prompted God to create the heavens and the earth, to select a “chosen people,” to reveal the plan of salvation, to establish the church, to direct the activities of that which He has created and one day to return in glory.” |
